Felixstowe has a population of 24,000 people (as of 2001), it is a North Seaport in Suffolk England. It is widely known for being one of the largest container ports in England. It has been noted that there was a village there since before the Norman Conquest, but it only became a major port in 1886. In addition to shipping the tourism increased and therefore a pier was made in 1905. It then became a resort in the late Victorian period; this spurred the opening of the railway station. The town Felixstowe is twinned with two German towns called Wesel and Salzwedel. It is administered by Suffolk Coastal District Council along with a Town Council. Today the town is one of Britain's top three container ports, dealing with 35% of container cargo, it is known for being Europe's fourth busiest port. It has strong road links to Midlands via the A14 and to the London via the A12 road. There are many reputable plumbing firms in and around the area of Felixstowe which are corgi registered.
