Okehampton is a small town located on the outskirts of Dartmoor, a wild expanse of moorland in the county of Devon. Like most towns in the West Country, it survived and prospered on the strenght of the medieval wool trade. Okehampton has an estimated population of just fewer than 6000 people. Next to Okehampton there are two small market villages. The main buildings in the town are the 15th century chapel of St James and Okehampton Castle. The town also has a museum called the Museum of Dartmoor Life and it stands on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. The substantial army training camp on Dartmoor is reached via Okehampton, and is referred to as "Okehampton Camp". There are a number of reputable plumbing firms operating in and around the Okehampton area.
